Thanks for stopping by! My name is Becky and I'm a lot of things: wife, mother, teacher, Christian, and, as of August 2013, a Type 2 diabetic. I have been thinking of starting a blog for a while to work through my thinking and frustration related to this diagnosis. After attending a professional development workshop about teaching writing and living as a writer, I decided to give it a try. I have no desire to be a diabetes activist; I don't want to acquire encyclopedic knowledge about the disease; I have no recipes to offer as I am a lousy cook; I just want to get to a point where it is controllable through diet and exercise and get a bit of normalcy back.
I am doing well; I have lost 19 pounds so far and my blood sugar levels are well-controlled (barring any screw-ups on my part). I'm working on shedding another 20 pounds this year, and my doctor says there's a good chance I could be off meds by the end of the year if I continue the way I'm going. That's my goal!
It's going to be a long, winding road, but thanks for coming along for the ride!
